The people of Haiti are suffering from natural calamity for a Decade. In 2010 more than 300,000 people died in earthquake of 7 Magnitude which is away from the country capital and most popular city, Post-Au-Prince. But still, Haiti is recovering from that event and one more earthquake of 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti.
As per the U.S.G.S. report, 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit which is more powerful than the earthquake of 7.0 magnitude hit Haiti in 2010, which killed nearly a quarter-million people. Les Cayes and Jeremie reported major devastation. Communication systems were not working in Petit Trou de Nippes, at the center zone of the earthquake. Because of which news was not immediately spared from that city, leaving Haitian officials to fear for the worst. And landslide, triggered by the quake which cut off access to the road to Jeremie.
Rescue activity
U.S. Agency of International Development sent a disaster assistance response team to Haiti to help with disaster control and coordinate with philanthropic partners. The agency sent 52,000 pounds of saws, torches, drills, hydraulic concrete breaking equipment, and medical equipment to aid rescue efforts with an urban search and rescue team.
75,000 children in Haiti get vaccination support from USAID and provided care to a number of women and newborn babies. 105,000 local farmers to adopt new technologies provided by USAID, which help in generating nearly $30 million in agricultural sales.
